This past Wednesday, the Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, honored Carolina Herrera with its 2014 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion at a luncheon held at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. In addition to Carolina Herrera, there were many notable attendees from the fashion and celebrity echelons including Anna Wintour, Lucy Liu, Andre Leone Talley, Oscar de la Renta, Renee Zellweger, Ivanka Trump, Seth Meyers, Ralph Lauren, Star Jones, and many more. Dr. Joyce Brown, FIT President, and Julie Macklowe, Co-Chair of the Couture Council, gave impressive speeches on Herrera’s achievements and on the work that the Couture Council does. Seth Meyers introduced Herrera, expressing how evolutionary her dresses are and how she has truly impacted the fashion industry.
Every seat at the luncheon was filled and one could sense the tremendous amount of respect that everyone there felt for Carolina Herrera. She is truly a fashion icon, an on-going force, and a great supporter of the arts and education industries. What an inspirational gathering!
