Loving sports is fun, relaxing and for some a way to let their frustrations out. However we rarely stop to think at what environmental price they come.

‘The world football’s cup’ in Brazil will increase CO2emissions. has done some estimation of how much the cost of ‘la coupe du monde de football’ will be.

The world cup, a worldwide known event, lately plague with much corruption, starts in Brazil on the 12th of June. It will open at Sao Paulo and in 12 other Brazil cities.

Obviously people will come by the thousands; both from Brazil and worldwide. Is there enough breathing room for everybody at this point? We do have to take into consideration the climate of Brazil itself. Airlines, hotel rooms, tourism, cars or buses, are major requirements to see the games. Carbon dioxide emissions will be out of control. Release of methane Gas will also be an issue.

  • The huge event is estimated to emit 1, 4 million tons of carbon. The number was given by the Federal government of Brazil.

How do we avoid these problems without infringing on the rights of others?
