About Purity Springs Resort

In the mid twentieth century families used to gather for summer vacations in places like this, to relax and enjoy one another, to laugh, play and strengthen bonds. These family resorts were traditional, probably with knotty pine on the walls and family-style dining on hearty comfort food. It also had lots of things to do outdoors, and inside were nooks and crannies to snuggle up in with a good book. Purity Springs Resort was one of these, and today it retains all the qualities that made them so popular.

Back in the nineteenth century a prolific natural spring on the property produced spring water that was transported all the way to Boston for sale. More than a century ago the Hoyt family opened the doors of the family farm to visitors and it has grown and prospered since then, never losing its charm, hospitality and connection to nature. Forget high fashion and think low-key, kick-back and relaxed fun.

What is there to do in rural New Hampshire in winter

Winter in the city is more of a trial than something to enjoy, but in a country village like Madison, New Hampshire, winter has many charms. One does not have to be a skier/boarder to enjoy this place, but skiers will like it or its own ski mountain, King Pine. This is a great place to try the sport without having to face a big mountain. Trails run from easy green to one of the steepest trails in the state, so there are options for the whole family.

Beyond the alpine ski trails, and perhaps a good way for non-skiers to start is Nordic (cross-country) skiing or snowshoeing, which allow you to get out in the fresh air and get a bit of exercise without the challenge of a hill. Purity Spring also has a nicely maintained skating rink and big indoor pool – or finish off the day with a few runs on the tubing hill or a horse drawn sleigh ride along snow covered trails. As a finishing touch, be sure to make an appointment for a relaxing massage at the Spring House Spa (not included in the special rate).
