The Cooking Experience by Mise En Place, meaning “everything in its place,” has opened and offers culinary experiences designed for the novice chef, home cook, serious amateur and seasoned food enthusiast. The wide variety of classes presented range from acquiring a new skill set to a weekend kitchen warrior adventure for bragging rights.
Teaching the courses are Resident Chef Cody Hinckley and Resident Chef Dave Lachowski using state-of-the-art kitchen equipment including Sub-Zero Wolf Appliances and French Mauviel 1830 copper pans. Periodically special classes will be taught by renowned chefs from top restaurants in the valley.
Classes vary from a quick 60-miniute Lunch Demo from noon to 1 p.m. for $25 to a Gourmet Class from 4-6:30 p.m. for $100. Other classes include: Dinner Demo; Flash Course; Skills and Techniques; The Mad Scientist in the Kitchen; One-on-One; and the Chef Battle, which is an “Iron Chef” style kitchen challenge.
The Le Petit classes on weekends are for children 5 to 12 years of age where they learn to bake, decorate and explore their creativity with the aid of Pastry Chef Colleen Conlon.
The recipes and themes change daily and reflect seasonal flavors and traditional spices. The Cooking Experience’s culinary professionals have partnered with local food providers to obtain the freshest and highest quality ingredients for their daily courses.
Classes are being held Thursday through Sunday and will expand in April to include Wednesday. Class calendars, registration and gift certificates are available online at www.miseenplacenv.com. The Cooking Experience is located off I-215 at 9500 S. Eastern Avenue, Ste. 170, Las Vegas, NV 89123; phone 702-754-4400.
