On January 18, 2014, the Colorado Kings played the Shizuoka Gymrats at Overland High School, in Aurora, Colorado.
The Gymrats were thirsty for a win in Colorado with their loss to the Colorado Chill just two days prior. The Colorado Kings looking for a win to bring them out of their two game losing streak against the Dallas Vandals and the Arizona Scorpions. A win would hopefully also bring them back up in the ABA Power Rankings, from the 15th place they are in.
The game felt to be a definite walk-away by the Kings, after the Gymrats loss to the Chill. It did not appear as it was going to be as the two teams started the game keeping fairly close matched as the Kings went into the lead and the Gymrats continued to creep up very close behind. At the end of the first half the Kings managed to build up a 15 point lead against the Gymrats.
The Gymratas never gave in and played very hard as the second half began showing the Kings they were not going to make the game a very easy win. As the game carried into the later part of the final period the attrition started to show on the Gymrats. The Gymrats appeared to have the ability to take over the lead a few times but the Kings began to slowly drift more into the distance for the win.
The final Kings 117 and the Gymrats 97. The game proved to be tougher than either team, in my belief, thought it would be, especially with the Chill managing to defeat the Gymrats by 31 points
