The Coen brothers' new film "Inside Llewyn Davis" hits theaters nationwide on December 6, but some lucky Chicago film lovers will have the chance to see the film several weeks earlier. The 49th Chicago International Film Festival announced today that Ethan and Joel Coen's latest will be the Closing Night selection for this year's iteration, which bows out on October 24. Lead actor Oscar Isaac("Drive") will attend the event.
"Inside Llewyn Davis" follows its titular folk singer as he travels from New York to Chicago in 1961, searching for success with only his guitar and the songs in his head. Isaac stars and performs as Llewyn Davis. The cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman and Garrett Hedlund. Academy Award-winning music producer T-Bone Burnett("Crazy Heart") produced the film's music. "Inside Llewyn Davis" marks the Coen Brothers' first film in three years. The Oscar-winning brother team's last film, "True Grit", hit theaters on Christmas Day in 2010.
The 49th Chicago International Film Festival runs October 10-24. The Closing Night Film screens at 7pm at the AMC River East 21 movie theater in Chicago, IL. The location will host all of this year's Festival screenings. On Monday the Festival announced the first batch of selected films, and the entire schedule will be announced on September 17. Tickets for individual films will go on sale on September 21.
