The Cleveland Orchestra to perform free concert in Lakewood

Tickets for the free Cleveland Orchestra concert at Lakewood Civic Auditorium will be available beginning Saturday, April 26, at ten Lakewood locations

The Cleveland Orchestra returns to Lakewood during its 2nd annual neighborhood residency in Northeast Ohio as it conducts a week of activities from May 17 through May 24.

As a prelude to the residency’s main week of activities, the Orchestra will be participating in a variety of educational events for the Lakewood area schools. This will be followed by a collection of musical events and performances throughout the Lakewood community that will culminate in a free community concert by the Cleveland Orchestra at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium on May 24 at 7:30 p.m. This performance will be under the direction of Music Director of Franz Welser-Möst.

The program features Cleveland Orchestra Principal Trombone Massimo La Rosa as soloist in Ferdinand David’s Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra. The program opens with Richard Strauss’s tone poemDon Juan and also includes three pieces by Johann Strauss Jr.: Waltz: From the Mountains, Czárdás from the operettaRitter Pázmán, and the overture to the operetta Die Fledermaus.

Free tickets to this concert will be available at ten locations throughout Lakewood (see list below), beginning on Saturday morning, April 26. Tickets are limited to 4 per person. Seating for the performance is general admission and on a first-come, first-served basis. Any seats not claimed by ticket holders will be released to non-ticket holders at 7:15 pm.
