Contrary to popular belief, there is a lot more than just the guns and military things, mostly Southern Confederate, of course, but all things of the Civil War era. There is Southern pottery that has become more popular than ever as a collectible. You might find clocks, lightning, paper things, photography of all kinds, bottles, medals, etc… Also, there are books, old and new. Paper Confederate money and things with a connection to Charleston and South Carolina are of great interest to local antique shoppers.

Most of the show is about Civil War guns and swords - and, there are a lot of guns, a whole lot of guns, of all types. Most of the exhibitors have been collecting for many, many years and are experts in their field. In the antiques business reputation and experience is everything. There is a lot of competition among the dealers and debate over the value of things at this show. Bargains can be had for people who know how to shop and negotiate prices.

It is owned, promoted and managed by Mike Kent Shows. Their website is: www.mkshows.com. It is always very well attended and sometimes even crowded. They also promote other Civil War shows in Nashville, Richmond, VA, and Dalton, GA.

The exact location is: the Omar Shrine Temple, 176 Patriots Point Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464. There is plenty of free parking, and it is an easy to find location near the Cooper River bridge and downtown Charleston. The cost for adults is $8.00. The hours are: Sat. 9-5 and Sun. 9-3. They do close at 3 PM on Sunday. Pictures of their previous Civil War shows here in Charleston can be found at www.clydeantique.com, the website on antique shopping in Charleston, SC.
