The CIAA has wrapped up, for the 2013 Tournament. The parties have come and gone; basketball champions for both the men and women have been crowned; and the fan experience allowed many others to enjoy other festivities offered. Bowie State University, won the Men’s Basketball Championship; Shaw University won the Women’s Basketball Championship. They, respectively, beat Livingstone College and Fayetteville State.
Beyond the games, on Friday and Saturday, the fan experience included the Belk Fashion Show. As always, the men models delighted the ladies; while the female models delighted the men. Some of us may have caught the enjoyment on both days. The models participating had appearances by Ms. North Carolina and a Carolina Panthers player. In the irony, the Comedy Show, located in the North Carolina Music Factory, had a free fashion show, Saturday night. Sorry, but I do not have pictures to that one, as I stumbled on it by accident. But, I’m awaiting pictures from the photographer, and will add if I get them.
Clearly, there were a lot of parties throughout the city. The locations ranged from the NC Music Factory, to Uptown, and beyond. One gets a sense it has created quite the economic generator, particularly in the last few years. If you are lucky enough to find the right event that people are truly coming to enjoy them, socialize, and have a good time, then you’ll likely have positive memories to speak of, until next year. And believe it or not, a couple of them had a free window of opportunity. Moving on, the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament now takes front and center, starting on Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Greensboro NC. They call it Ladies’ Hoop, and there’s no shortage of competitive spirit. Welcome, for the time has come for the excitement of March Madness.
