The church has been crumbling

There are seven small books that precede the book of Revelation in the New Testament. They were written to correct errors in theology and infiltrating heresies. It is remarkable that they were written less than 50 years after Christ. The church already began crumbing. Today’s church is also crumbling.

A. Church attendance has been falling for years and those that do attend demonstrate minimal commitment to Christ and His teachings, including a burden for lost souls.
B. Out of desperation church leaders have rationalized how to conduct their worship service. They say they will do anything to get people into the church so they can tell them about Christ. That is a phony and weak display of spiritual leadership.
C. Mega-churches are more of a show stopper than a worship experience. Contemporary services have music that is 7-11. (seven words sung eleven times). Sermons help attendees feel good, talk about psychology or social issues while ignoring conviction for sin.
D. A closer look at what is taught can be heresy such as God wants a person to be happy and wealthy. There are no Bible verses that verify this. The Bible says that believers should expect persecution because that is what Christ experienced.
E. Many churches play the numbers game by counting how many people attend services or how many come out to an event. This is brag material for the pastor‘s ego. In the Old Testament times God condemned counting.
F. Few church members know how to lead someone to Christ as personal Savior. Most have never done so.
G. It is better for children to grow up in the sanctuary hearing sermons so they know the Gospel. They can have separate fun schedules and still attend worship. When teens reach a certain age, it is no wonder they stop coming to church because they become disinterested.

However, there is good news. The church can get on track by following and teaching Scripture. Pastors can preach what the Bible says, not conform to society’s trends. Their duty is to declare the fallen state of mankind, need for repentance, and that Jesus is the only Savior. When people get excited about the power of resurrection instead of a cookout, their lives will become a beacon to the world. Churches will not be a crumbling piece of nonsense.
