Here in Waco, Texas there are great church-led activities for children of all ages to participate. Most churches host Sunday school, evening worship and oftentimes an additional Wednesday night program. One such Church is The Church at Tree Lake.
The Church at Tree Lake is located at 11519 China Spring Road in China Spring, Texas. China Spring is a more rural area just on the outskirts of Waco. The Church at Tree Lake offers a great range of activities for youngsters, including an inspiring deaf ministry program. Sundays consist of Sunday school lessons beginning at 9:45 am in the upstairs of the main church building, or at the Erath building on Tree Lake Drive for the youth group. On Wednesday evenings events begin at 3:30 with a van-load of children coming from a single deaf campus of the Waco ISD. These children participate in Bible-based lessons and fine-tune their reading and signing skills with the help of a well equipped ASL staff. These children then have play time and a free meal at the Erath building before being bused home by Tree Lake members. At 5:30 the Erath building is opened up to anyone and everyone who would choose to come and enjoy fellowship and a free meal cooked by the former owners of Bulldog Burger Barn, Theresa Garrett. The church van leaves at 5:30 to go pick up the children who wish to come but who do not have access to transportation for the evening.
After everyone gets their tummies full the kiddos join together for free play on the Church playground. At 7pm the children gather for organized games. After games the children adjourn to their prospective classrooms for prayer, worship and lesson time. During this time there is also a prayer meeting for adults and a separate meeting agenda for the older youth group. After all the classes wrap up for the evening the Church then buses back home the children in need of a ride. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn more about Christ.
In addition to the benefits for the children this program also offers a reprieve for parents in much need of a quick break, or an opportunity for parents to take care of less kid-friendly tasks/chores.
