The China Palace serves food fit for the Queen’s City

Large restaurants are easy to spot in Charlotte, N.C., but not necessarily easy to dine in. Sometimes that tense race for a parking spot or long wait for a table that will perpetually be “Just a few more minutes” just isn’t worth it once you have your meal.

The China Palace should probably be named the China Cottage regarding size. However, this quaint little restaurant is quite charming. The dark wood interior is always gleaming under the winking lights strewn throughout the restaurant.

The music playing softly in the background encourages a romantic atmosphere. Muted Plasma televisions offer entertainment for the solo patron.

The food fare is above reproach. Not many Chinese restaurants that offer delivery service can boast fresh vegetables and seafood that is not overcooked like the morsels found in the Chef’s Specialty dishes, such as the Palace Delight.

The Palace Delight serves up chicken and shrimp sautéed with vegetables in a spicy Sa-Cha sauce. The menu also offers “Steamer” plates for those watching their figures and tasty vegetarian fare like Eggplant with garlic sauce.

Whether you choose to come in and dine on the sinful honey walnut shrimp or stay home and order Seafood hot and sour soup for two, you will not regret it.
