2013 has been an extraordinary year in three ways: rebels, rebellion, and grace.
"Children, it is the last hour;
and just as you heard that the antichrist was coming,
so now many antichrists have appeared.
Thus we know this is the last hour.
They went out from us, but they were not really of our number;
if they had been, they would have remained with us." 1 John 2:1-18
The anti-Christ doesn't have to have red hoofs and a tail. He, or she, can be a well dressed, well educated, Catholic parishioner, baptized into Truth. The telling marks aren't classically devilish, in a cartoonish sort of way. What reveals the anti-Christ is blatant, willing, and persistent disobedience of Christ, and His Church, without a hint of repentance.
The Anti-Christ is pro-choice, pro-gay 'marriage,' pro-contraception, pro-anything which is popular in style, and is absolutely against the teaching of the Church. This anti-Christian spirit, moreover, has been best exemplified in the Democratic party of the United States of America.
It has voted, overwhelmingly, twice, for an Anti-Christian President.
"Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all you lands.
Sing to the LORD; bless his name;
announce his salvation, day after day." Psalm 96:1-2, 11-13
Undoubtedly, the Catholic Church has always been Pro-Choice!
But the choice that Catholicism offers is between eternal joy in the Life of Christ or eternal frustration in the hell of self-absorption. Choice was never meant to enslave the innocent to death. It was meant to empower the human person to protect life, and pursue true joy in justice.
The anti-Christ, however, has perverted 'choice,' making it the catch-phrase of idolatry, addiction, heresy, and murder.
"What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:1-18
In the end, there is only one choice. The choice between the light of truth and Love--embodied in Jesus Christ--or the choice to live in darkness, realized in the denial of truth, the refusal to love, and, ultimately, the rejection of the only true Way to Live in the Cross of the Savior of the world.
