"The Carrie Diaries" season 1 continued Monday, Feb. 25, with episode 7, "Caught," an episode which saw several characters caught in the middle and forced to make a choice.
Dancing with heartbreak and trouble. It was time for the Winter Dance at school in this "The Carrie Diaries" episode, and Carrie was caught between the two guys in her life: George and Sebastian. While she was dating George, Sebastian was still very much around and his jealousy was clear when he watched Carrie with her boyfriend at the dance. But while George was the sweet guy who brought her hot chocolate and offered her a ride in the beginning, by the end, he was the guy who had expected sex—or at least something when she told him she was a virgin and refused to have her first time be in the back of a car—after the dance. So their relationship was over, and things were still complicated for Carrie and Sebastian.
Meanwhile, Mouse was caught between love and school as she received a B+ on an exam when she spent the time she should've been studying having sex with Seth. While she got her teacher to give her an extra credit assignment, she was late turning it in. But Seth's grades were also slipping, and so Mouse made the mature decision and they were the second breakup of the episode.
Then there was Maggie, who was caught between her secrets and facing the truth as she went to the dance alone with Walt stuck at home with the chicken pox. But her secret was out when Donna saw her sneaking out of the back of the police car outside of the school (maybe they should've went around the corner or looked outside to see if anyone was there before getting out?), and Donna used it to her advantage to blackmail her. Either she kept Carrie away from Sebastian or she'd reveal her secret. Maggie ended up telling Carrie the truth and admitted that while she loved Walt, she felt like something wasn't working between them. Maggie and Walt needed to talk.
Law versus fashion. Carrie was also caught between her two worlds in the city. After Carrie came up with a photo caption, Larissa offered her an internship at Interview. Carrie wasn't sure how to bring it up to her father, who told her how much work went into getting her the spot at the law firm. In the end, Carrie chose the Interview internship after looking through the magazine.
Growing pains. Finally, Dorrit was caught between her mother's memory and building a relationship with her father. The tickets for the Nutcracker ballet arrived, something Dorrit used to see with her mother, and things didn't go so well when Tom stepped in. First, he forgot the snacks and she turned down his offer to buy her something from the concession (such as Jordan Almonds), and then he fell asleep while she was enthralled with her performance. But during intermission, he revealed that he had been working like crazy so he could take her to the ballet and spend time with her. She admitted she didn't know how to talk to him since Carrie had him and she had had her mother. But in the end, she wasn't alone, and Tom brought her Jordan Almonds for the rest of the ballet.
