The Carnegie Theatre had a remarkable year with a 70% increase in their subscription base, now the excitement continues with their 2014-15 theatre series. The Carnegie will be doing several Broadway favorites that are sure to entertain.
Sweeney Todd is being performed the Carnegie August 8 to August 23, 2014. This musical will be under the direction of Ken Jones with musical direction by Jamey Strawn. This story is about an imprisoned barber who seeks revenge on those who hurt his family. He has an accomplice Mrs. Lovette, who is a strange bakeress that makes the delicious meat pies, what is her secret recipe?
Driving Miss Daisy will be playing at the Carnegie November 1 to November 16, 2014. This story is about a strong-willed and independent widow Daisy Wertham, who is without a car. Her son is concerned and hires a chauffeur his name is Hoke. He is a caring unemployed black man. The cultural and social differences between them make for some tensions, interesting discussion and humor. This story takes place in the Deep South during the Civil Rights Era.
West Side Story is at the Carnegie January 9 to January 18, 2015. The story of Tony and Maria a young couple in love that has got caught in a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story. Their love struggles as it is caught in a battle between rival street gangs.
Underpants will be playing at Carnegie April 10 to April 26, 2015. Louisa is a very attractive housewife who has a wardrobe malfunction in public this soon becomes the talk of the town. The event leads to flirtations, fantasy, and humor.
