The Caribbean Paradise Restaurant is doing something special this Christmas day; in fact, it has been doing so for the last eight years, this Christmas will mark the ninth.
While most of us will be with our families, eating turkey and opening presents, the Caribbean Paradise restaurant will open its door to families in need. Last year, 950 people showed up to the Free Caribbean Christmas Dinner; this Christmas, Karyn Lewis—who organises and runs the event along with her companion, Dave Allard—expects more than 1000 people. And it’s not just food being served; plenty of toys will be handed out, as well as clothing and other household items.
The idea for the Christmas Dinner came from Karyn’s brother Keith, who after seeing one of his old classmates rummaging through a dumpster on Christmas day, decided helping others in need would be the right thing to do. Sadly, Keith passed away two years ago after losing his struggle with leukemia, he was 36. Before Keith died, he made sister Karyn promise to continue and organise the Free Caribbean Christmas Dinner--Karyn has been true to her word.

The Free Caribbean Christmas Dinner and Toy Giveaway will take place Friday, December 25th, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Caribbean Paradise Restaurant, located at 8080 Newman Blvd, Lasalle.
