A Canadian, Howard Galganov, wrote the following editorial on December 14, 2012. In the wake of the terrible, unspeakable tragedy that was the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary, the focus has been on gun control and the banning of all "assault" weapons.
Mr. Galganow hits the nail on the head with his analysis of the Sandy Hook shootings. The policies of the Left, since at least LBJ's Great Society and the rise of the welfare state, have caused a degeneration of the American family, values, personal responsibilty and any role God has in our country. Instead, they want everyone to look to the State to solve all of our problems.
We are no longer trusted to choose what our kids will eat for lunch at school, what kind of lightbulbs or toilets we will use in our homes or what kind of car we want to drive. Abortion, even late term or the murderous practice of partial birth abortions, should be acceptable. Forcing Christians to pay for these practices against their religious beliefs is upheld in Federal court.
In 1960, the percentage of African-American kids being raised by a single parent was about 30%. Then, LBJ's progressive War on Poverty, rise of the welfare state, his Great Society and the culture of entitlements and dependency became policy. Now, 72% of all African-American children are born into single parent households. The American family is being disintegrated, with the effects most pronounced in the African-American community.
Now, with President Obama's liberal agenda going into its fifth year, there are more Americans living in poverty than since the Great Depression, more people on food stamps than ever before, unemployment unchanged since January 2009 at nearly 8% (the real unemployment rate is closer to 15%), more people on welfare and on disability than ever before.
Why would we expect that those failed liberal progressive policies would not have an effect on the culture of America? Again, the liberal, progressive agenda of the Left has demonstrably failed in every measureable way since they were introduced 60 years ago. Their failures have impacted our lives in every way.
For example, could anyone seriously argue that the American public school system is a success? When did our schools start to go downhill? 1979. That is when Jimmy Carter created the Federal Department of Education. Big government got involved and the system they were promising to fix whether there was a problem or not - think Obamacare and the American healthcare system - breaks.
Back to Howard Galganov's article. I received this via email and was going to write an article about it, but instead decided to reprint it in its entirety:
Blood is on The Hands of the LEFT
"I was just about to publish my latest editorial... on Canada 's Supreme Court decision to suspend Freedom of Speech in favor of promoting one language over all others. THEN THE CONNECTICUT SCHOOL SHOOTINGS HAPPENED.
What happened at Sandy Hook School takes precedence over any language issues in Canada and a failed Judicial System in both our countries. I won't waste words describing my feelings, because how I feel is indescribable about 27 people murdered, (20 young children and six
adults at the school),the murder of the shooter's mother beforehand, then the cowardly suicide of the shooter at the school as lawenforcement closed in.
BUT I CAN TELL YOU WITH CERTAINTY WHY IT HAPPENED:
It didn't happen because of the so-called gun culture, or because of poor security at the school. It happened because of the modern LEFTIST culture that has been busy removing all semblance of personal responsibility and respect from our lives.
It happened because of the Hollywood and television types who lecture the Conservatives on how people should live, while they make FORTUNES producing absolute FILTH and VIOLENCE in their movies, videos and television programs.
It happened because of reality TV shows that demean humanity, along with shows that make people laugh at the pain and humiliation of others.
The senseless murders happened because multi-millionaire computer game producers create UGLY digital scenarios that poison young minds with abject depravity and gratuitous violence.
It happened because the school system doesn't teach values, and promotes the idea that 'anything goes.' And that all people are equal, regardless of the truth. And that no one ever fails.
It happened because LEFTISTS won't allow concerned and loving parents to discipline their children, or raise their children in the time-honored way they feel is right.
It happened because far too many Liberals spend their time and effort ridiculing and attacking the people who want to live by the lessons of the Bible and the Torah.
In truth, this and other horrible acts of violence happen because our society-- from the entertainment industry to schools to the media and to our governments-- have created the social and cultural foundation that is eating away at both Canada and the United States like a
cancer.
I know that what I am writing will inflame those on the LEFT, but that's OK-- because if they don't like it, they can ROT in HELL along with the demons and losers of their own creation. I want my old country's values back.
Values like standing in school when an adult entered the room. Like being seriously disciplined for bad behavior. Like when we were measured by our successes and failures. When not everyone had to waste years of his or her life going to college to study basket weaving instead of taking a trades course or going to work or the service right after high school. When your Mom was a caring woman and your Dad was a real man, an authority in the home. And when there weren't
vulgar parades extolling the "virtues" of being gay, If you want to stop the sickness . . . IT'S TIME TO STOP THE LEFT."
Mr. Galganov is absolutely right. People who hold to traditional American conservative values of God and the Bible, family, personal responsibility, and right from wrong outnumber those that are working night and day to kill those values. The problem is that they control academia and the media and are better organized. We have to take action wherever we can to support and defend our way of life. Guns didn't cause Sandy Hook but the Left will use that tragedy to attack us and the Constitution and further their agenda. It IS time to stop the Left.
