The calm before the storm that is Winter X Games 17

The lights are on. The scaffolding is up. The venue is ready to go. And the pros are here. Each year for the past twelve years, ESPN's Winter X Games has come to Buttermilk Mountain. Buttermilk is one of Aspen/Snowmass' four resorts. The X Games last for four days and are a spectacular event. Where else can you see winter action sports athletes "send it" on a snowmobile or do multiple spins and flips in a 22-foot halfpipe?

Now you might think that Buttermilk is closed during the Games. Nothing could be further from the truth. While the Games do impact parking and the base area significantly, the event only affects 8% of the available terrain that Buttermilk has to offer. Plus, there are some great deals out there like Buttermilk Deluxe which is a private lesson for up to five people for $349 that takes place at Buttermilk. Think of it like a backstage pass to the Games!

The Games are free to spectators and broadcast live on TV.
