The Cake Mix Doctor is in town: Webster Groves, Clayon and CWE

Ever wish you could whip up a made-from-scratch cake, but just didn't have the time between sports practices, music lessons and that PTO meeting you've been meaning to attend? Anne Byrn felt the same way. She focused her culinary expertise (she was the food editor atThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution for 15 years) to turn boxes of cake mix into taste-like-home-made treats.

She was so good at it, she later wrote a cookbook, The Cake Mix Doctor.

Byrn will be touring three St. Louis area Straub's Markets to demo her cake mixes and sign cookbooks.

She will be at the Central West End Straub's (302 N. Kingshighway) on Friday Nov. 4 from 4pm to 7pm. Saturday Nov. 5 she'll be at the Clayton Straub's (8282 Forsyth Blvd.) from 11am to 2pm, then at the Webster Groves Straub's (211 W. Lockwood Ave.) from 4pm to 6pm.

If you visit her website, CakeMixDoctor.com, you can try out a few of her recipes, read her blog and sign up for a newsletter. Oh, and you can buy one of her nine books, too. Doesn't the Maple Nut Coffee Cake look good?
