The Arena Football Legue begins to rebuild I think the new owners of the once defunct Arena Football League have done a masterful job of rebuilding this sport and their league. Arena Football has a place in the lexicon of American Football, and it surely has a pretty large market of fans. How large that market actually is may be open for debate, but by playing a spring to summer schedule and having games each week broadcasted on the NFL Network that market is surly growing in numbers. Now for 2011 the league is looking to expand and bring back some of Arena Football’s most storied teams. |

AFL to cease operations file chapter 7 bankruptcy The Arena Football League had already cancelled there 2009 season which was set to run over the summer months and be aired on ESPN. However this league had a lot of big problems, an out of control spending spree on players in certain cities, and a low fan turnout in most cities not named Chicago. Now word has leaked out that the AFL will cease all operations and file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy which is a liquidation of assets. |

Could the AFL lose some of its team to another league? It is not news that the Arena Football League is in significant peril. The league already ahs suspended the 2009 season, and has continually launched new plans to get the league back on the field for the 2010 year. They are actively negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement with its players union, and apparently taken other actions to get their business model straighten out. All of that may be too little too late as at least one of its team owners is apparently fed up with the entire mess. |
