The Knitter's Life List by Gwen Steege is equivilent to a bucket list for everything knitting. Things to do, to explore and to make are included in the 1001 inspirations for every knitter, 122 techniques and tips to learn, 69 styles and traditions to explore, 64 personalities to meet and 33 yarn fibers to try. It truly is an invitation to the knitting trip of a lifetime.
This book inspires knitters to try new things, opportunities and meet others of like minds. Each chapter has a to-do list where you can check off what you have already done and blanks to add new ideas. Candi Jenson's motto is, "Knitting loves crochet.", so there is also some great tidbits about crochet. Included for your perusing is spinning, dyeing, places to visit and conventions to attend. It is so much more than a book of lists.
The index reads like a reference book. It starts with a Connecticut knitter Holly Abery-Wetstone (on measurement) and ends with Zippers. There is even a section on sustainability and recycling. For do-it yourself recycled yarn from a sweater there is a video on how this is done (lower left).
This is a perfect book for newbies to see all that is available to knitters. For experienced knitters it will surely remind you of something you have wanted to accomplish and instill the desire to move it up on your list. It is a book you will want to keep close by and refer to often.
There is no way in one lifetime you can accomplish all that this book has to offer but, it will be one heck of a party trying. This is the perfect gift for a fiber fanatic.
