The British do comedy very, very well. Which is why tickets to the annual British Arrow Awards Festival at the Walker Art Center sell quickly. The Arrow Awards are given to the best of British advertising and for 72 minutes, audiences are entertained by sharply-honed wit, visual and spoken. The ads are from television, internet, and film. The screenings run from December 6 to January 5, but is it advisable to buy the tickets as soon as possible. Few holiday events are as affordable - $12 which includes museum admission.
The Arrow Awards are appropriate for teens to adults, so if you have family visiting, consider taking them. Besides the enjoyment of the moment, you can keep each other entertained for days reciting your favorite lines from the ads.
To add to the British atmosphere, the Walker has a pop-up pub that serves drinks before the showings. Guests are permitted to bring drinks into the theater. The opening night screenings will be introduced by Robert Campbell, chairman of the British Arrows.
