The Breeze Kings jam the blues on day number two

SHOW OF THE DAY 12/2/10
The Breeze Kings @ Northside Tavern – 10pm

It is Thursday, a day closer to the weekend and a day closer to Christmas. Time for some more home cooked music. The Breeze Kings, Atlanta’s own award winning blues band, will be jamming some sweet blues music at Northside Tavern TONIGHT. These guys are one hell of a blues band and their live shows do not disappoint. Matt “2-11” and Terrence Prather lay down the smooth rhythms, Carlos “Breeze” Capote is a duel threat with his soulful vocals and mad harmonica skills and Jim “Taste Bud” Ransome brings it all together tearing through some serious blues riffs on his guitar. Too busy to go, working late, dinner date or some other excuse, no problem show starts at 10pm. So no excuses, go out and support local music and check these guys out.

ALBUM OF THE DAY
Boston Spaceships – Our Clubhouse Still Rocks

Robert Pollard, the elder statesman of indie rock, has been churning out tunes like a madman for years now. While one knock on his incredibly massive musical output is that not everything should be unleashed on public ears, the latest Boston Spaceships album does not fall into that category. Our Clubhouse Still Rocks does exactly that, rocks. Filled to the brim with Pollard’s unique Beatlesque garage pop/rock sound this lo-fi hero hits the mark. This record is chocked full of 16 sweet tunes like “John The Dwarf Wants To Become An Angel”, “Unshaven Bird” and “Bombadine” making it a great listen from start to finish. Pop a brew, crank it up and enjoy.

SONG OF THE DAY
Sweet Apple – Do You Remember

Sweet Apple brings together four dudes who write good music. Tim Parnin (guitar) and John Petkovic (vocals/guitar) who play in Cobra Verde, Dave Sweetapple (bass/vocals) plays in Witch and J Mascis (drums/guitar/vocals) plays in Dinosaur Jr. “Do You Remember” is off of their album Love and Desperation and is a sonic indulgence meant to make your ears happy. Crunchy guitar jams, pounding rhythms and powerful vocals are what this song is about, Sweet Apple has a definite 70’s rock vibe to it, which is a good thing. Check it out, you will thank me.
