Aimee Mann and Ted Leo are The Both. For the last couple years the two that comprise The Both have been involved in a cross-country collaboration which finally brought about the self-titled album which dropped on tax day of 2014. They are now on tour in support of that album and will be bringing their roadshow to City Winery Napa on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Mann, once the singer of the ‘Til Tuesday, has released seven solo albums since the dissolution of that band in the early 90s. Over the course of her career she has been nominated for both an Oscar and a Grammy for her soundtrack work on the Paul Thomas Anderson film, Magnolia and she has appeared in the wildly popular Portlandia as a cleaning woman version of herself. Her somewhat off-kilter skills as a songstress have kept Mann in the spotlight long after most of us have forgotten the words to Voices Carry.
Leo, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, has been in a long string of punk and indie rock bands throughout the 90s, most notably Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, and started collaborating with Mann while on a joint concert tour back in 2012. The nexus that ultimately formed The Both took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when he was the opening act for Mann. Since then, the two have built a highly-anticipated full length album and are about to embark on a U.S. and Canada tour.
