The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, located at 2655 South Park Ave. in Buffalo, celebrates spring with these events in May:

· Arcangel Gallery: Rachel – now through May 11th

· Honey Bee Festival – Saturday, May 3rd from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – features a vendor fair, a lecture from Dr. Reed Johnson from Ohio State University on how pesticides affect honeybees and more; admission is $10 for members, Master Gardeners and students and $15 for non-members

· National Teachers Appreciation Day – Tuesday, May 6th from 3 to 5 p.m. – free admission to area educators with your school ID badge

· Black Friday Bulb Sale – Friday, May 9th beginning at 8 a.m. (line begins to form around 6 a.m.) in the garage behind the Gardens – $8 per bag, limit three bags per person

· National Public Gardens Day – Friday, May 9th – $1 admission all day (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

· Great Plant Sale – Friday, May 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. for members and volunteers; Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the public – find out more here

· Medicinal Garden Feature – Saturday, May 17th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (included with admission) – featuring activities for Arthritis Awareness and Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month

· Bonsai Show – Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days

· Arcangel Gallery: William Smyers – Dark Star – May 17th through August 11th
