The Book Expo America opens its doors on May 31 to the public for Bookcon

The Book Expo America, which takes place at the Jacob Javits Center on May 29 to May 31, 2014, opens its doors to the public on Saturday, May 31, 2014 for Bookcon.

Book Expo America is a large publisher marketing event, at which many publishers have booths and hand out free books to industry professionals. Many famous authors also attend to have lectures, breakfast meetings and autograph sessions and sign their latest books. All of the major publishers are in attendance. BEA took place in New York City for 2012 and 2013 and returns to New York City for 2014. Previously on Saturday, the last day of the BEA, the event was open to "power readers" and was limited in scope. This year, the BEA is expanding the last day of the conference and making it available to both kids 6-12 years old ($5.00) and adults ($30).

Headliners include John Green, who will be on a panel to discuss the new film adaption of his best seller "The Fault in Our Stars". James Patterson, Rick Riordan, Jeff Kinney and Lemony Snicket will be on a children's book panel.

There will be autograph sessions, literary quizzes, panel discussions, and Q & A with authors.
