The Bombay Royale will be performing tonight at the Kennedy Center on the Millennium Stage at 6 p.m. They have a style that is very eclectic and has amassed them quite a following. Their music is a fusion of many genres tied together with a Bollywood theme and their videos are a colorful, active, kaleidoscope of energetic 60's and 70's disco, Bollywood fusion.
The group came together in Melbourne, Australia. The lyrics to their songs are in Hindi, Bengali and English and each of the members of the group writes their songs. Their stage names reflect their playful nature, featuring 'The Mysterious Lady', 'The Tiger', 'The Skipper', 'The Boatswain', ' The Railways Mogul', 'The Bandit Priest', 'The Leaping Shaman' 'The Jewel Thief', 'Chip Chase', 'Dr. Electrico', and 'The Kung Fu Dentist'.
Their debut album, 'You Me Bullets Love', released in May 2012 features eight originals and two very interesting remakes of some old Bollywood production numbers, released on Hope Street Recordings. It placed in the iTunes Best of 2012 and was #1 on the iTunes World Music charts. It placed The Bombay Royale squarely on the music map and has them leaving the critics watching with bated breath.
