The blues come to Florida this weekend

The Sunshine Music and Blues Festival is rolling into Florida this coming weekend for two dates, in two locations. The festival runs this coming weekend: Jan. 18 - 19th and provides a full roster of live blues to fill both days, one in Boca Raton on January 18th and the second day is in St. Petersburg, on January 19th.

This is the second annual Sunshine and Blues Festival and the line ups are impressive. JJ Grey was just added to this fine roster and Tedeschi Trucks Band are the headlinging act. Some other great live perfomances are featured from: Galactic, Leon Russell, Acoustic Hot Tuna, Stanley Clarke and many more.

JJ Grey, described by the New York Times as: “Impassioned singing, riff-based Southern rock, cold-blooded swamp funk and sly Memphis soul,” has just been added to the line-up at the second annual Sunshine Music and Blues Festival. The Tedeschi Trucks Band, winner of multiple Blues Music Awards and a 2012 Grammy Award for “Best Blues Album,” will once again headline this Florida only festival. Featuring two stages of live bands, a wide array of refreshing craft beers and delectable menus from a wide variety of food vendors, the festival will kick off Saturday, January 18, 2014, 12:00 PM (doors open at 11:30 AM) at Mizner Park Amphitheater, Boca Raton in South Florida and then Sunday, January 19, 2013, 12:00 PM (doors open at 11:30 AM), at Vinoy Park, St. Petersburg in the Tampa Bay Area.

Tickets for what has become a major annual event for the Sunshine State, the Sunshine Music & Blues Festival, are on sale now at, all TicketMaster outlets or charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000. General Admission tickets are $49.50 while Special Reserved Tickets are available for $99.50. Also appearing on this year’s bill for the Festival are: New Orleans’ favorites Galactic; legendary Leon Russell; the great acoustic blues of Hot Tuna with Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady; the incredible jazz bassist Stanley Clarke; The Ringers featuring Jimmy Herring (from Widespread Panic), Wayne Krantz, Michael Landau, Keith Carlock and Etienne Mbappe; New Orleans’ guitarist, singer and songwriter Tab Benoit (Boca date only); guitar virtuoso Bobby Lee Rogers; British blues guitarist and singer Oli Brown (who blew everyone away last year at his FL debut at Wanee Fest).
