Tone Uriza (Tony Uribe) is known as Big Daddy Blues in Second Life® for a very good reason. This performer lives and breathes blues music.
Tony hails from Tucson, Arizona and it the leader of Tony and the Torpedoes. He’s played guitar professionally for 30 years and was inducted into the Arizona Hall of Fame in 1999. Having opened for the likes of Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, and John Lee Hooker, just to name a few, Tony has been bringing his incredible talent to the stages of Second Life® for the past couple of years and has an amazing following.
He usually performs as a solo artist in Second Life®, accompanying his growly voice on electric guitar, but occasionally teams up with other artists for performances. He performs with The Torpedoes drummer, Speelo Snook (Marx Loeb), who is also a well-known Second Life® DJ. Tony also will, on occasion, stream live from an in-person performance effectively mixing realities for his fans.
Tone performs all over the grid, but also maintains his own venues, Blues Heaven and The Boondocks. Whether he performs in the intimate Blues Heaven club, or on the beach stage there, he always brings a party. The Boondocks is an eerily accurate reproduction of a Tucson club where Tony often performs live. When possible, he streams both audio and video from the real life Boondocks into the Second Life® version, creating a fun and unique experience.
Tony epitomizes a musician in love with his craft and it shows in his performances. He covers classic and contemporary blues artists, giving each one a special “Big Daddy Blues” signature. He also performs originals and has recently added new songs to his set list.
If you are a blues fan, you really need to check out one of Tone’s shows. If you are new to blues, he will introduce you the right way. Catch Tone tonight at his weekly gig at Club Neptune. He performs there every Thursday at 6:00pm SLT.
