It is not really the Christmas season in Des Moines until the Blenders come to town. Tonight one of the Midwest's most popular vocal groups returns to Des Moines on their annual holiday tour. The Blenders will play a concert tonight at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are available through the Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations for $39 (plus taxes and fees). [Please note that children under the age of five will not be admitted to the show.]
The Blenders got their start in Fargo, North Dakota more than 24 years ago. The quartet got their start as an a capella group, but they have since mixed in instrumentation. Now based out of Minneapolis, the group's mix of original and covered pop and holiday music has earned The Blenders three Emmy Awards for their concert videos and work on television. Though the group has released 14 albums, The Blenders tour frequently, having spent time on the road with the likes of Jay Leno, Howie Mandel, Savage Garden, Jonny Lang, Blues Traveler, Chicago, The Righteous Brothers, Lou Rawls, and Chuck Berry.
