Birmingham based The Bird & The Bread, a restaurant dedicated to locally sourced food and drinks, will host its first Master Winemaker Dinner with Kendall-Jackson family wines, Wednesday, July 30th at 6 p.m.
This event marks a homecoming of sorts for Grosse Point Park native Matt Smith, who has been with Kendall-Jackson for the past 10 years. Matt oversees wine production at Vinwood Cellars, and is winemaking director for all Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Cabernet, Merlot and Red wine blends at Kendall-Jackson.
Wine dinner guests will be treated to a four-course menu paired with a special reserve selection of wines, chosen by the winemaker and The Bird & The Bread Owner Kristin Jonna, especially for this dinner.
Here’s what’s in store:
Appetizers including herbed goat cheese crostini and tarragon lobster salad on endive leaf will be passed with Kendall-Jackson Avant Sauvignon Blanc.
First Course: Pan-seared halibut with sweet corn broth and vanilla braised pineapple paired with Jackson Estate Camelot Chard
Second Course: Roasted duck breast with merlot poached pears and blue cheese spatzle paired with 2011 Grand Reserve Merlot.
Third Course: Braised short ribs with golden potato puree, grilled radicchio, and foraged mushroom demi sauce paired with 2010 Hawkeye Mountain Cabernet
