Choosing your trainer is key to success. If you enjoy working with someone because you trust them and respect them, that is a good first step. Nobody wants to work with a trainer they dread seeing each day.
Jillian Michaels is not everyone's cup of tea but there are people who may need that "in your face" trainer to keep them motivated. She never, ever lets up. Even though a trainer's intent may be honorable, a trainer should not resort to mean-spirited words. How are the words "Then die" helpful? Jillian, however, is the preferred trainer for contestants who have their eye on the grand prize.
Bob Harper has the best balance. He does expect true effort from his team members. He is encouraging in his words and gives kudos when they are earned. When the vein comes out on his forehead, he is not happy. Bob is the preferred trainer for a contestant with long-term goals. He emphasizes lifestyle changes over game play.
Dolvett Quince has past experience on Celebrity Fit Club, where the contestants were often hampered by personal issues, such as medical problems, substance abuse and lack of trust. He is empathetic to members of his team and he shows respect for them at all times. Pretty unflappable, he does have a limit to what he will put up with, but is genuinely fair in his approach. He would be the best choice for people who are sensitive or have delicate personal matters to deal with.
