The Biggest Loser Season 13: Battle Lines are Drawn

At the top of the hour, one member of the Black Team weighs in on whether he should stay or go. Joe, who is a father of young children and a husband, decided he wanted to go home to his wife and kids because he felt that somehow in the 2 weeks he’s been on campus, he’s learned enough to finish his journey at home.

Directly after the weeping Joe contemplates his fate at the Ranch, the contestants face their first temptation, a Chinese Buffet. The person who consumes the most calories will win the right to assign who will compete against each other at the weigh-in and how to divvy a 2 lb. advantage. (The winner also has to right to assign the 2 lbs. to themselves.)

The Red Team decided to not eat anything on the buffet while the Black team’s Cassandra (Cass) decided to eat two fortune cookies totaling a whopping 60 calories. The viewer’s would not find out the distribution of the 2 pound advantage until the weigh in.

Directly after the first pop challenge, Joe decided to head home after all which left his team livid and feeling defenseless. Once he got wind of the leave, Black team trainer and veteran of the Biggest Loser, Bob Harper decided to give Joe a call but all he got was the same excuses he gave his fellow contestants.

[There are over 40,000 Chinese buffets in America, which tops the number of big named fast food chains combined.]

Battle lines are drawn between the Red and Black team when Conda accuses Cassandra of cheating on her challenge at their first workout. The winner had to bring the loser lunch from Subway, and Conda made a big joke out of Cassandra's win, which had Cass understandably, livid. Dolvett seeing how the whole situation was getting out of hand, suggested the two have a rematch at the last chance workout and both ladies agreed to the terms.

At the final challenge of the evening, host Alison Sweeney had the contestants participated in a water relay which they had the help of their trainers, to carry water over to a block of ice that has their prize in the center. The first team to finish the race with all team members across the finish line wins the prize. The race was a close one, but in the end, the Red Team pulled out the win by mere seconds. The prize was a video chat home which was highly emotional for all the contestants since they are all family.

Bob decided to visit the Aqua Team at home to see how their progress is going at home. Their mission was to make sure they have lost 50 lbs. in 30 days so they could earn their spot back on the Ranch. Will they succeed or will they have to continue to finish their journey at home?

At the last chance workout, the rematch between Conda and Cassandra ensues and new and possible permanent trainer Dolvett Quince, issued out the challenge. One would think that whoever won, the loser would eat humble pie either way, but there seems to be a lot of catty, melodrama from the younger contestants this season.

At the scales, Buddy faced off against Megan and Megan won without the use of the one pound advantage that Cassandra gave her, leveling the playing field between the Red and Black team. Gail won against Kimmy, Jeremy won against Lauren, Emily lost to Roy, Mark won against Christine, and Chism beat out Kim, which left the face-off against Cassandra and Conda. In the end, Cassandra won the weigh-in and won bragging rights for one more week. (Conda only managed to lose 3 pounds whereas Cass lost 8.)

So in the end, who did the Red Team end up voting off the Ranch to finish their journey at home? In the end, the Red Team decided to send Lauren home to finish her journey which ends her time on the Ranch.

Since starting the Biggest Loser, Lauren weighed in at 246 pounds and now weighs 193 pounds, which is a total of 53 pounds lost. Lauren completed her first half-marathon at home and she now feels the athlete in her coming through. Congratulations Lauren, keep up the great work!

As for Dolvett and Bob as a new dynamic duo, the jury is still out. However one thing this examiner knows for sure, Dolvett can bring the pain just as much as his predecessor.

Next week on the Biggest Loser:

Dolvett calls Conda out on her lackadaisical attitude towards weight loss. Will Dolvett get through to the stubborn Conda before it’s too late or will Conda be sent home to finish her journey? Find out the answers next week.
