Ruben Studdard, "American Idol's" season two winner, has joined the cast of "The Biggest Loser" for season 15. Studdard, weighing in at 462 pounds, is the heaviest contestant on the show this year. In an interview with the Associated Press on Sept. 27, 2013, Ruben Studdard talks about the life changing experience he is going through on "The Biggest Loser."
"I have to get up every day and give myself the two hours that I need to keep myself together before I even get into any music stuff, and that's just going to have to be how I do it."
Ruben Studdard and 14 other contestants began their weight loss journey in June with trainers Dolvett Quince, Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper. The 35-year-old musician is pre-diabetic, has high blood pressure and struggles with sleep apnea.
Ruben said after "The Biggest Loser" wraps up he will begin recording his sixth album, but he is concentrating on his health now and losing the weight. Appearing on “The Biggest Loser” caused Studdard to adjust his concert schedule and make some cancellations, but he says in the end, it will be worth it. "The Biggest Loser" season 15 airs on NBC every Tuesday starting October 8, 2013.
