The Biggest Loser 13 has gotten more competitive than any previous season, and now the remaining contestants are taking it to a new level. Viewers and show alumni had already been voicing their frustration with this season's ultra-competitive players, and even trainer Bob Harper said some of the current players are “bullies.” Now reports are out that the drama is even more crazy than anyone has seen before, and Thursday TMZ shared the scoop of a Biggest Loser first.
It's not unusual for contestants to get competitive on The Biggest Loser, since there is a $250,000 prize at stake, along with a $100,000 award for the biggest at-home loser. However, this season's contestants are frustrating many with their nasty behavior. Tuesday night Bob Harper was at the Men's Fitness March issue launch party, and talked about this season's contestants. Radar Online shares that he believes there are some nice contestants this season, but Conda, Kim and Mark are not on his list.
Apparently, it gets a lot worse than what viewers have already seen. TMZ has discovered that during filming this week, a group of the remaining contestants walked off the show in protest of a show twist. They apparently had been told that eliminated contestants would have a chance to return and compete again for the $250,000 prize, and they did not take it well. TMZ's sources indicate the majority of the contestants still competing banded together and left mid-filming. Sources had indicated filming would be shut down while the producers decided what to do, but Thursday things were underway again with most of the contestants.
TMZ reports that filming has started up again, but with two fewer contestants. While it has not been leaked just who is gone, apparently two of the contestants who walked off the ranch have been axed for good. The others are back and filming again. NBC isn't commenting, and so far sources for TMZ share that viewers may see it all play out on-screen. Most agree it would be odd for it not to be incorporated, and given the viewer frustration with some of the competitors, it seems it would be something of a reward for the viewers to see the feisty, uncooperative ones go home.
This twist is hardly one that should not have been anticipated as eliminated contestants have been brought back in previous seasons. For example, Season 3 featured at-home players competing for spots alongside the two teams that had already been on the ranch. Also, viewers will remember that other seasons have had contestants brought back as well, including Jay's return in The Biggest Loser: Couples 4. Some think former contestant Ashley Johnston from Season 9 said it best on her Facebook page Wednesday when she linked to the TMZ story and simply posted, “YIKES!!! SUCK IT UP!”
Which contestants are involved and how will it all play out? Tune in Tuesday nights to NBC for The Biggest Loser 13. The previous winter seasons of The Biggest Loser have aired their seasons from January through May, so it sounds like there is a lot more drama in store for the bullies of Season 13. Do you think they were brave to try to buck the producer's twist, or have they lost sight of the real purpose for doing the show?
