Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch got caught up in “The Big One” with 28 laps to go during the Nationwide Series Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway, but in spite of bouncing off a few cars, Busch and teammate Joey Logano were back in the thick of things by the time the final laps and green-white-checkers came around – unfortunately at the expense of JGR teammate Brian Scott.
Scott, in the #11 Shore Lodge Toyota Camry, was able to stay on the lead lap, coming home in 11th-place after the second attempt at G-W-C. Busch, driving the #18 Z-Line Designs Toyota, came up through the pack with Logano’s #20 GameStop Toyota on his bumper. After Mike Wallace’s car went airborne on the final lap, NASCAR officials checked the loops and Busch escaped Talladega with a bruised car and the win, followed by Logano in second.
“Look at the thing!” Busch said about his car in victory lane, after his crew took to all four corners of the #18 after the wreck. It was Busch’s first Nationwide win at Talladega.
Scott remains in eighth place in Nationwide points. Find out more about the Nationwide race at joegibbsracing.com.
