In S7E2 of “The Big Bang Theory,” Leonard returns home early from his trip looking to spend a bit of Sheldon-free time with Penny. When Penny begins to act suspiciously, however, Sheldon can only think of one reason why she might be acting this way: Penny is cheating on Leonard.
He and Amy begin to investigate Penny’s alleged infidelity. When they hear the sound of a man’s voice coming from Penny’s apartment, Sheldon takes matters into his own hands, barges in, and catches Leonard and Penny sitting on the couch.
Sheldon immediately takes offense. He can’t figure out why Leonard hasn’t told him of his early return and comes to one logical conclusion: Leonard finds his friendship with Sheldon a “burden.” Sheldon immediately starts to wonder if Leonard’s ever told him the truth and starts sniping at Leonard who immediately returns in kind.
Howard, whose emotions are suffering at the hands of an estrogen overdose, finally has enough and successfully gets the pair to reconcile.
High points of the episode:
- The depths of Howard and Raj’s friendship and what they would do for each other.
- Amy and Sheldon’s interaction.
Low points of the episode:
- None spring to mind, though Howard’s estrogen overdose tiptoed along the line of cliché and amusing.
