So far this season, Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time have clearly belonged to "The Big Bang Theory" -- not only has the show routinely won the night in the 18-49 demographic, there are some nights when it hasn't even been close.
However, things could be changing for the hit show to an extent, as Fox is getting ready to launch its "American Idol" juggernaut on a new schedule that includes a live show on Wednesday and a results show Thursday night against Sheldon Cooper and company.
So is CBS worried at the end of the day? Speaking to television critics this week, network president Nina Tassler scoffed at the notion that "Big Bang" would suffer completely thanks to the "Idol" machine:
"Idol is Idol, it's a force of nature. It's a powerhouse. The good thing is Big Bang is a super star and we're thrilled with how well it's done on Thursday. The good news is anytime you put hit shows in one time period there are enough eyeballs to go around so we think we'll do ok."
We have seen this situation before, as CBS also does well with "Two and a Half Men" despite being up against "Dancing with the Stars," and "Glee" still dominates in the demographic against "NCIS."
Do you think "Big Bang" will be hurt too much by the presence of "Idol" this spring?
