Sheldon’s assistant, Alex, finally asked Leonard out on the Jan. 3 episode of “The Big Bang Theory.” The episode, titled “The Egg Salad Equivalency,” had 19 million viewers. According to a Jan. 4 Entertainment Weekly report, this is the biggest audience “Big Bang” has had to date.
Alex has been crushing on Leonard all season and dropping not so subtle hints that Dr. Hofstadter still doesn’t pick up on. However, Alex finally made a move Leonard read loud on clear on Thursday’s episode when she asked him to dinner.
Leonard was flattered that a young, smart, pretty woman asked him out and bragged to the guys. Word got back to Penny who became insecure and jealous. She donned big nerdy glasses and seductively said “molecule” in an effort to turn Leonard on with her faux braininess. It worked.
Meanwhile, Sheldon decided to give Alex “a talking to.” This resulted in Alex filing a complaint with the human resources department because Dr. Cooper made many of his typical totally inappropriate comments.
Sheldon didn’t understand what the big deal was and brought up previous antics of Leonard, Raj and Howard. All four of the gentlemen wound up in the HR office by the end of this episode of “The Big Bang Theory.”
