“The Big Bang Theory” continued its reign as TV’s funniest comedy when the people spoke last night at the 39th Annual People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles. “The Big Bang Theory” won for Favorite Network TV Comedy, which is easy to understand if you watch the ensemble cast in their nerd action each week. “Big Bang” star Kaley Cuoco hosted the People's Choice Awards for the second consecutive year, which saw more than 475 million votes cast by fans for the night's winners, according to CBS News. Tonight’s episode continues its foray into the sci-fi world with the guys going full on “Star Trek”. In a related story, Kaley Cuoco teams with William Shatner in a new Priceline.com ad.
The CBS comedy set ratings records with last week’s “The Egg Salad Equivalency” episode, and tonight’s “The Bakersfield Expedition” episode promises to deliver the laughs as well. Watch a preview clip of the show here.
In tonight’s episode, Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj travel to the Bakersfield Comic-Con, decked out in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” costumes. Meanwhile, Penny, Bernadette and Amy, “investigate their final frontier: the comic book shop”, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The sitcom was both the highest-rated and most-watched program last Thursday night, growing 9 percent from three weeks ago to match a series high rating and setting a new record for total viewership, with over 19.25 million viewers.
Kaley Cuoco takes the series one step closer to “Star Trek” nerdville nirvana by appearing in Priceline.com’s newest ad with William Shatner’s “The Negotiator” character. Kaley plays Shatner’s daughter who spends her formative years learning the ancient art of negotiating from a monk.
“It’s definitely exciting working with Bill, and being part of a campaign and a brand that I've pretty much grown up with”, Cuoco said of the collaboration.
“He has single-handedly built the Priceline Negotiator into a pop culture icon. I think there's a lot of overlap in our fans, who will appreciate seeing us together as a father and daughter team. And who wouldn't want to be William Shatner's daughter?”, Kaley said, as reported by The Wrap.
