'The Bible's' Satan and Obama's uncanny resemblance was not intentional

The Bible” has turned into a hit that not many expected, but one controversy coming out of this American mini-series is that the character of Satan has uncanny resemblance to President Obama, according to CBS News on Tuesday March 19, 2013. The producers of this History Channel hit, the husband and wife team of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey explained that Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni has played the character of Satan in other biblical programs “long before Mr. Obama was elected president.” This was not an intentional look-alike character placement on behalf of “The Bible” casting.

Ouazanni does look like Obama, or at least this is what many are saying today. Could it be that the discord in politics today is bringing this comparison to the media? There were times in modern history where the majority of the folks were happy about what was going on with a president and his administration, like when Bill Clinton, Ronald Regan and John F. Kennedy were leading the country. If a character showed up playing Satan and resembling one of these former and late presidents during their time in office, would have the media made such a comparison?

Glenn Beck tweeting last week, “Does Satan look EXACTLY like Obama? Yes!” CBS News reports that this is when the comparison between the Satan actor and Obama got wide-spread attention. Beck has many followers and when people who have this much influence start using this resemblance to mean more than just a coincidence, the rumors fly.

“Both Mark and I have nothing but respect for our president, who is a fellow Christian,” Downy said in a statement. She went on to say statements comparing Obama to the Satan actor is just a “foolish distraction to discredit the beauty of the story of the Bible.”

The funny thing about this is that Beck, who started the Obama-Satan comparison, also tweeted that “The Bible” is a must see and told his followers, “Don't miss it.” Glenn Beck has been a long-time critic of President Obama, and some might agree this is putting it mildly. When he pointed out this resemblance between Obama and the character playing Satan, it was most likely a dig at Obama and not the mini-series.
