Diana Perez (ABC News) tells us that social media leaders may have a new challenger - The Bible as of Monday, Aug. 26, 2013. It had to happen - The Bible has been turned into an iTunes app and has been downloaded over a million times. A little searching shows that the app also appears on Google Play. It's expected that now that the word is getting out the Good Word will be downloaded several million times.
Perhaps Diana was referring to the English language version? ITunes reports that it is now on 100 million (plus) devices. The apps appear to be available in many languages and is very much loved. The current iTunes version (4.4) was released this month. The Google Play version (4.3.6) was released Aug. 23, 2013. ITunes shows that it is available in a readable and an audio version/s. You need IOS 4.3 or later to run it on your Apple device.
The seller/provider of both versions is LifeChurch.tv. And, of course, they provide reading plans, videos (those of Himself are mentioned foremost) and sharing apps. And you may even access sections of your Bible app offline. And its customizable - adjustments can be made to color, text and font size. One may worry about privacy with Google Play apps - but You Version offers you this privacy statement.
Both apps appear to have no price tag. For more on the provider use the LifeChurch.tv link above. Or you may connect with them on Twitter, Facebook, their blog or on your computer. They recently added it to the Windows Store and it may soon hit your BlackBerry. Just how is Bible.com challenging the social media sites? It has a way to go according to Alexa.com. One wonders - can your Bible app be blessed by your religious authority?
