It's easy to get down with all the bad news in the World today. Every day we are bombarded by news reports talking about the latest crisis or the newest problem facing our society. The newspaper headlines shout about some crime or another company laying off thousands of our neighbors.
The adversity we face is nothing new. Read the story of his life and you will see that Mark Twain faced more challenges than many of us. These experiences impacted him deeply, but they also gave him the wisdom to say, "The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up".
As we go through our day to day life we can focus on the negatives surrounding us or we can look for the good which still exists.
Take one challenge you are facing and look for the "optimistic" view to the problem. No, the problems will not suddenly disappear, but maybe we can have a better attitude towards them.
Now excuse me as I try to look at the world in a better light myself.
