The best soaps for moms and kids

It's "Clean Week"... a look at some great products to help you and/or your home smell and feel good and refreshed. Today's "Clean Week" story looks at good, old fashioned yet fantastic bars of soap!

Bar soap is the eco-friendly way to clean. According to Country Living Magazine's Eco-Challenge report, "Substituting one bottle [of liquid soap] with a bar in each U.S. home would keep 2.5 million pounds of plastic out of landfills."

What is soap exactly? The folks at Vermont Soaps explain HERE. Here's a look at some of the best soaps I've tried for moms and kiddos...

Yardley has been making fine soaps for hundreds of years. Their English Lavender was the favorite of my grandmother and when I recently opened up a new package of that same soap, fond memories of her came rushing back. It was a fantastic and I smelled good too! I also am enjoying their new natural Almond Milk soap. Read about their all new natural soaps HERE.

Vermont Soap Organics bar soaps are USDA certified organic, moisturizing and handmade. They're mild enough to be used as facial soaps but leave your whole body feeling great. Vermont Soap uses a 200 year old soap making process that takes about a month to make each bar. I've tried and enjoy the Oatmeal Lavender bar. It has chunks of oatmeal mixed in with the smooth soap and leaves you with a gentle woodsy fresh clean feel and smell.

Fraiche makes some great soaps that bring customized relief, based on each mom's preferred scents. My fav by Fraiche: their Lavender Fields Soap. It has a nice fresh soft scent that lets your mind relax as you breathe in the instantly sweet air all around you. Ahhh! All of Fraiche's products are hand made in Lewisville, Texas with certified organic ingredients and many also include goat’s milk to luxuriously moisturize the skin.

SallyeAnder Soaps makes high-quality, all-natural, handmade soap and skin-care products. This family owned company has been making soaps in New York state for a quarter of a century. Each SallyeAnder soap has a base of olive oil and soy, with no artificial dyes or colors and don't disintegrate from artificial latherants. Their soaps are designed to be used by everyone from newborns on up. The aromas from SallyeAnder Soaps fill up the bathroom and make for a nice fresh smell in the air just by having them in the bathroom. No need to spray anything. Ones to try: Hogwash! soap which is good for skin and clothes cleaning. They also make one to keep bugs at bay without spraying on any added chemicals called No Bite Me.

LUSH fig and leaves soap is a luxurious treat as well as a good exfoliator. Lush soaps are palm-free and made with only 40-60% soap - the rest of the stuff is fresh fruits, veggies and other delights.

Burt's Bees Fabulously Fresh Peppermint and Rosemary bar is a favorite of mine in warm weather months. It instantly cools your skin with peppermint oil and rosemary extract, invigorating your body and mind. It's so fresh and clean. For my wee ones, their Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap is a favorite as well. It smells soft and delightful. It's made with buttermilk, oat flour and honey. Leaving perfectly scented little bees after tub time!

Babyface vegan organic lavender soap bar made by the San Diego Natural Soap Company is a great choice for babies. The scent is barely there but will add some relaxation for baby and parents during those early rubadubdubs.

CircleSoaps were invented by a 7 year old who wanted to make it easier to hold onto his soap. These cool soaps now come in a bunch of colors and designs - and little kids love them! My girls both enjoy washing their hands with these at the sink and they really are a lot easier for them to hold.

Wett Giggles soaps encourage hand washing with colorful soap and animals right in the middle of them. Bot my girls think these are a hoot and beg to use them to wash their hands.
