The best possible workout

The family name Grant is synonymous with boxing excellence. Whether that refers to retired professional boxer Otis “Magic” Grant or his brother Howard Grant who competed in the 1988 summer Olympics, representing Canada. Together they train professional and amateur boxers at their West Island gym, Grant Brothers Boxing, which is also open to the public for classes and training.

A major draw to the gym for the general public is the class given every weekday at 5:30 p.m. by various fighters. The first portion of the class is a series of aerobic and muscle toning exercises that will be sure to have every person dripping with sweat and feeling every muscle in their body. The second part of the class is on the punching bags, and is often led by Otis Grant or other fighters. People of every age and every degree of fitness come and take part in this class. As they say at the gym, if you are not in shape when you start, you will be because their staff will get you there.
