
The Economist Intelligence Unit rated countries throughout the world to determine the best place to be born in 2013 based on a designated quality-of-life index. The EIU company which is coordinated to “The Economist” magazine gets its results based on eleven factors or categories including the populous’ trust in their government, the stability of the country’s economy, the wealth within the country, the crime statistics, and the quality of family life. On Thursday, "The Economist" released its list of the top ten best places to be born in 2013.
United States Birth Rate Drops to Record Low
Based on the magazine’s criteria, the United States of America didn’t even rank among the top ten. According to the magazine’s analysis, the United States is rated number 16 because:
<The United States is> where babies will inherit the large debts of the boomer generation.
The list of the top ten best places to be born in 2013
- Switzerland
- Australia
- Norway
- Sweden
- Denmark
- Singapore
- New Zealand
- Netherlands
- Canada
- Hong Kong
Though Switzerland is quite small, it came in first in wealth, health and trusting of government and public institutions.
Back in 1988, the United States was in the top spot.
