It's summer time. School is out…
That 7 hour-a-day, 5 day-a-week, virtually free (possibly) day care we call "school" is taking a much deserved, but unnecessary, 10 week vacation. This could be a nightmare for a full-time working parent with a tight budget. Professional day care is good, but can get very expensive. Family can be great, but then you may have a lot of favors to return later. If only there were a low-cost, safe, loving environment that we could send our kids to…
(cue the inspiring music) But WAIT! There is such an option!
During the summer, churches all over Lee County begin their VBS programs. Vacation Bible School is a place where children go to learn positive values, have fun and receive love from caring adults. They are typically very low priced, last 2 to 4 hours a day, and are very welcoming to new faces. In fact they love to meet new people. The only draw-back is that they usually only last for one or two weeks, but luckily the summer is long and there are many churches, there's always something going on somewhere.
VBS is truly a cost-efficient, safe, and loving place to take your children. Whether its for just a couple hours of peace and quiet in your home, or time to go grocery shopping and get those have-to-do's done. VBS can provide that break for you.
Don't know where to start? WAY-FM (100.5/89.5) has a website where local churches can register there VBS programs for free www.vbshq.com.
And remember, they love new faces, so don't be afraid. Who knows, you may find a comfortable place full of cool people for yourself too. =)
