This awards show is different from the rest as it is a multi-cultural awards show. It acknowledges and empowers the achievements of people of color in television, recording, literature, motion picture and directing. This year it took place in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The stars were aligned on Saturday night and here’s a list of some of the brightest . . .
Lupita Nyong’o – She has been the hot topic of almost every conversation especially when conversing about fashion. She has been a breakout star this year in film and it doesn’t hurt that she is always styled to perfection. Lupita took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her amazing role as Patsy in 12 Years a Slave. She stunned in a breathtaking, orange Givenchy gown paired with a gorgeous clutch and H. Stern jewelry. She always looks timeless and fresh no matter the occasion. Lupita has definitely made me a fan and I can’t wait to see what she wears to the Oscars!
Kerry Washington - The gladiator who never fails. Kerry Washington looked heavenly as she won big during the awards show. She accented her adorable baby bump in a navy and peach Thakoon gown paired with Christian Louboutin shoes and a Prada bag. Kerry’s fishtail braid was also perfection with her pink lipstick. She won the award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her amazing work as Olivia Pope on the hit show Scandal that also won Outstanding Drama Series.
Naomie Harris – Wearing a golden, majestic Valentino dress the actress looked amazing strutting down the red carpet. Naomie was nominated for her work in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and although she did not win, she looked beautiful. Her nude make up and luxurious locs made for a radiant look. She is also a celebrity to look out for on the big screen and in the fashion world. Whether she is walking down the street or at an awards show, she always looks flawless.
Tika Sumpter – The Have and The Have Nots actress was serving old Hollywood glamour as she strolled down the red carpet. She wore a dreamy, champagne hued Johanna Johnson gown. The finger waves and red matte lips added to the impeccable vintage feel.
