The best of the Soma district San Francisco: Vega and Langton

With a subtle scooter theme, Vega is named after a vintage model of the Lambretta and was started by two scooter enthusiasts. Keep your eyes open and you’ll find it between 8th and 9th on Folsom, A hole in the wall located in the lower Soma district. Be weary of speeding cop cars, sirens, and delusional men and women on your way there. “SHUT UP” yells a man sitting on the curb at everyone… at the world.

Rave reviews on Yelp for this new location consistently say that “This place is exactly what the bleak tumbleweed wasteland of SOMA (7th-10th St) needs.” And “Best cup of coffee” or “Best Macchiato I’ve ever had.” It’s refreshing to walk off of the street in this underdeveloped area and into Vega but you wont get far; A hole in the wall literally, its only 20 feet deep. With an industrial look that fits, there is no seating, a place merely to stop on your way somewhere for a cup of some of the best coffee you’ll ever have. Serving up Blue Bottle Coffee, a separate entity of its own, know for its fresh and rich gourmet coffee. Watch the trained (and attractive) baristas grind and brew you coffee to order. Watch it filter and drip right into the cup you will soon be holding. Not much of a place to hang out, this is a shop for coffee enthusiasts, the cream and sugar to your left may be frowned upon. Your choice to eat? A good looking ham and cheese on sourdough roll or biscotti.

Price: $2.50 for a 12 ounce coffee
Address: 1246 Folsom St (between 9th St & 8th St), San Francisco, CA 94103
