Hollywood stars took New York City by storm at one of the biggest style events of the year: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The front rows were packed with A-listers eager to get the first look at the fall 2014 collections. Among them, was actress Anna Kendrick who was spotted at an impressive amount of shows, including Jenny Packham and Rebecca Minkoff. The fall frocks even attracted style icon Blake Lively, who has been keeping a relatively low profile since marrying actor Ryan Reynolds in 2012.
Star power was not just limited to runway-view seating. Hollywood starlets even graced the catwalks themselves. Among the celebrity standouts were Victoria’s Secret Angels Candice Swanepoel and Erin Heatherton, who walked in the Desigual show. Even backstage dressing areas were littered with Hollywood’s fashion elite, including Nicky Hilton and Taryn Manning.
Instagram was the app of choice for the fashion crowd. A giant screen at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s Lincoln Center home base shared images that showgoers posted using the hashtag “mbfw.” Stars like Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow snapped selfies, while others like E! Host Giuliana Rancic shared shots en route to shows. Even street-style photos were posted on the social site by media outlets like The New York Times and Vogue Magazine. Elle Magazine even shared a video starring supermodels Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely instructing viewers how to take a selfie like a supermodel.
The action did not stop after hours. Fashion house Vince hosted a star-studded fashion week kickoff party at the Standard Hotel’s infamous Boom Boom Room. Champagne flowed until the early hours of the morning and stars like Alyssa Milano were treated to an open bar and endless horderves. The Blonds soiree hosted celebs such as Paris Hilton and Lil Kim. Guests were treated to a night of music, cocktails, and dancing. Perhaps the best-kept secret after-hours hot spot was the Empire Hotel’s lobby bar. Celeb spotting was a sport at the trendy cocktail lounge. Stars like The Real Housewives of New York’s Ramona Singer and Vanderpump Rules’ Stassi Schroeder enjoyed post-show drinks and gossip sessions with girlfriends.
Fashion week would not be complete, however, without the big reveal: The unveiling of fall’s hottest trends. Winter hues like plum, cobalt blue, and emerald green dominated the runways. Fur, wool coats, and trendy boots were ubiquitous as well. These style staples were complimented by red carpet worthy looks at the Zac Posen and Monique Lhuillier shows. No doubt, we can expect to see at least a few of these looks make red carpet debuts at the upcoming Academy Awards.
That’s all for this season - from the inside. See you in September, New York Fashion Week. Xoxo.
